Roti canai, teh tarik and fried chicken to cost 10 sen to 50 sen less

KLANG: Restaurateurs have begun to reduce food prices of local favourites like the roti canai, teh tarik, fruit juices and fried chicken to lure customers.

The customers will now pay between 10 and 50 sen less for the items in most Indian restaurants.

Roti canai is down to 90 sen from RM1.20, while teh tarik is RM1.40 now, compared to RM1.50 earlier.

Malaysian Indian Restaurant Owners Association president Datuk R. Ramalingam Pillai said prices of other dishes would also be reduced in the coming months.

“Our association, which has 1,300 members, decided to bring down the prices to cater to current times,” he said, adding that the reduction did not incur losses for the operators, but merely cut into their profits.

Fifth Landslide Victim

The body of a fifth victim of the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide was found buried under a metre of rubble yesterday.

It is believed the body is that of a Sri Lankan maid, Mery Thuraisamy, who was reported missing after the landslide.

The body was found 30m to 40m away from the house of veterinarian Dr N. Yogeswari, who was also killed in the landslide tragedy on Dec 6.

Close relatives of Dr Yogeswari who were at the site when the body was found, claimed it was that of Mery, based on the bed on which the body was found and a band on the wrist.

RM1.80... Wowwwww...

Perghhh.... I am really glad. Petrol price is at RM1.80 per liter now.

Now we all will be able to fill RM20 and still get quite an amount of fuel. Those kapcai riders, they will be able to fill up their tank with RM5.00 again.

I just wish price of consumer products will decrease. I still get 80cents for a piece of roti canai and RM1.20 for a glass of teh tarik.

To everyone out there, please spread the news if you find a place where prices already being cut down. Support these people whom willing to share the price reduction of petrol with us.

To those whom still retaining the higher price, please consider reducing it!

Petrol is at RM1.90 per liter

Perghhhhh..... I am really glad. Now, RM10 worth of petrol give me more mileage, but of course it is due to more petrol pumped into the petrol tank.

I just wish price of consumer goods will also come down. If not, that means trader / businessman / store owner will get the most benefit from the petrol price reduction.

I do not know how the government is going to go about reducing consumer goods price, but I think it is only fair if it happened.

I leave it to the expert.............

Cheaper Fuel

I'll be glad if it comes down some more. But even better if other consumer products price also being reduced.

At RM 2.15 a liter now, I still feel the burden of filling up a kapcai at RM10.00. Let's hope it will go down until RM2.00 soon or less.

Hopefully, the price reduction campaign will work. If not, well may be we could make an extra effort to earn more income or maintain minimum expenditure.

Many have been waiting for this model but it takes Yamaha so long to response the follower of this unique beast. The old model is really old now, but still, one of the most unique motorcycle in the world market.

I am very sure, this model will be all over the world soon. I wish I could own one, but most probably it will remain a wish!

Petrol Price Decrease by 15 sen

Hahhh... I am glad. Petrol price reduce again. I am really glad.

So, petrol price goes down, would other prices (of foods, services, consumables) also be reduced?

Well, let us just see. Chances are, it will remain unchanged. So, keep on the program and effort to lower our expenditures. May be we can try to reduce leisure dinner and lunch at the hotels and switch to lunch and dinner at the stall?

But I am sure not everyone will agree. But that is everyone right. Do what you think is best!

Mobile Phone Changes

019 for Celcom, 012 for Maxis, 016 for DiGi.

They are no more applicable. You can now register any number at any of the service provider.

Let say, you have a 019 number but you are very unsatisfied with Celcom service. Just bring you SIM card and your existing no to DiGi and re-register it there. After that you will be using the same 019 mobile phone number but subscribe to DiGi as a service provider.

So, what are you waiting for. If you have been disappointed with your current service provider, why not change it? You can still retain your existing number.

Restaurateurs explain why food won’t get cheaper

Food at restaurants and hawker stalls will not be cheaper despite the price cut of consumer goods by hypermarkets.

“It does not make sense for us to reduce the price of food at restaurants unless the petrol price is reverted to RM1.92,” said Malaysian Muslim Restaurant Owners Association president Jamarulkhan Kadir.

“All this while, we have been absorbing higher costs as we haven’t been increasing our food prices even after the price hikes. So I don’t see why we should lower our prices now,” he told The Star yesterday.

Malaysian Indian Restaurant Owners Association president Datuk Ramalingam Pillai also felt that the petrol price reduction did not justify restaurants charging their customers less.

“The question of us cutting our prices does not arise as we have always maintained our prices,” he said, adding that it was only fair that restaurants made up for their reduced profits now.

Taiping Hawkers Association chairman Tan Thian Kooi said it was unlikely that hawkers would lower their prices because suppliers were reluctant to reduce the price of ingredients.

“It is difficult for hawker food prices to change according to petrol prices as they are also dependent on the cost of supplies,” he said.

Tan added that the high electricity tariff would deter factories producing the ingredients to lower prices.

Government to relook and shelve some projects

The Government will review and shelve some projects including those in the economic corridors in view of the global economic slowdown, said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

The Prime Minister said the Government would decide which projects should go ahead and which could be put on hold.

“We have made the decision to review the projects once again. We need to postpone some projects which have yet to start construction,” he said at Akademi Kenegaraan’s closing ceremony for the Spirit of Merdeka 2008.

Abdullah said the action was appropriate because these were big projects and involved huge sums of money.

“The review involves all projects including those in the economic corridors. We will implement those we can afford and hold back those which can be postponed,” he said.
